If you follow our blog you know I’ve been blogging since early 2006 – I was thrilled when we grew the team and we could share other people’s perspective and what they found interesting in the wedding world.

A while ago we had a discussion about “the other Mark” – most people only see “The guy in the red shirt” (until fairly recently most colleagues never saw me in anything else but red shirts and back pants).

Most people only know the “media” side of Mark – bridal shows, weddings, networking events, TV and magazine articles…

I thought it would be fun to share some of the other side of Mark….

  • I have two siblings – one older sister and one younger brother {yes, I’m a middle child}
  • I was born on Lincoln’s birthday
  • My middle name is Lucas – which was my grandfather’s middle name
  • I’m the only sibling in my family to ever move away from the Philadelphia area {lived in Hyde Park, New York – Dallas, Texas and Washington DC}
  • I come from three generations of railroad engineers and LOVE trains
  • I'm Welsh, Scottish, Native American, Pennsylvania Dutch, German and Austrian
  • My mother was Protestant, my father Jewish and for a long time I attended Mass at a monestery in Washington DC
  • My mother was diagnosed with terminal breast cancer when I was 8 and survived until I was 28
  • We founded “Let Them Eat Cake” a charity wedding cake competition for City of Hope Cancer Center in memory of my mother.
  • I swam and dove competitively {not well} from the age of 6 through high school
  • Before getting into wedding planning I worked as chef and trained at the Culinary Institute of America.
  • Other than being a chef the ONLY other occupation I ever wanted was to be a clown with Ringling Brothers {I had a unicycle and juggling pins}
  • My favorite thing to do on my day off if cook –
  • My {not so secret} food obsessions are PIZZA, Southern Cooking and Food Trucks / Street Food – {in my next life I want to have a Food Network show about Food Trucks}
  • Followed closely by Cuban, Mexican and South Philly Italian
  • I’m a bit of a purist when it comes to pizza {no pineapple, Canadian bacon}
  • I don't mix seafood with cheese {tuna melt and crab imperial are the ONLY exception, and I'll rarely teat tuna melt}
  • I'll eat or try just about any food…
  • I’d rather eat good bread and cheeses than pastry or sweets
  • I could watch the Food Network 24/7 { there Chuck, I admitted it}
  • I HATE wearing shoes and wear them only when I have to.
  • RED is NOT my favorite color {it’s blue}

  • I LOVE to shut down and spend time alone – {I’m actually not fond of crowds}
  • I have very few close friends and LOTS of acquaintances
  • My best friend is my life partner Chuck
  • My favorite place to vacation is Disney {no secret there}
