With 2009 behind us, I decided to think about all of the wonderful trends we saw in bridal fashion last year and what we can expect to see in 2010.
2009
Pockets in bridal gowns hit the scene last year and looked so sweet and whimsical.
Headbands, flowers and birdcage veils were also very popular hair accessories.
What to expect in 2010
From what I’ve seen at bridal shows ( I stalked them during bridal fashion week) we can expect great things for wedding gowns in 2010!
Asymmetrical necklines were making an appearance on the runway for Spring, some with floral embellishments.

Ruffled Tiers were all over the runway for 2010! I love this look! It gives the gown a lot of movement and incredible texture and makes for a very dramatic look!

Hints of black in the forms of flower patterns and especially sashes. We can also expect a lot of color in the form of the ever so popular pumps and accessories.
Short mini dresses are not only being worn as reception dresses but are being used for ceremony now too! Check out these cute gowns. Priscilla of Boston also has a whole line dedicated to shorter reception dresses.
My favorite silhouette for gowns is the fit to flare or mermaid gowns. They’ve made a strong entrance in the last year or two and will continue through 2010. It’s a great way to show off curves!

In terms of accessories, I expect we’ll continue to see a lot of the birdcage veils but more embellishments on headbands for next year.
Hope everyone had a great 2009 and I hope you’re as excited as I am for bridal fashion in 2010!
