Om is said to be the sound that was made as the earth was created, Shalom the word for Peace….

I’ve recently seen them jokingly (lovingly) used in the same breath as the term ‘HindJew’ to refer to a multicultural wedding between a Hindu and a Jew….

Whatever you call it Risa and Amol’s wedding blending her Jewish family traditions, and his Hindu family traditions was beautiful…

At the beginning of the process there were HUGE obstacles –  they wanted a blended one hour ceremony consisting of elements of both ceremonies….the Indian portion alone could go from several hours to several days..

Finding two officiants who would work together was another hurdle, and we crossed it… they worked together to incorporate elements which were common in each religion.

Seven Steps + Seven Blessing were a common ground, as was circling, and the structures where the ceremony would take place; from there each family added in significant elements of their wedding ceremonies.

We took Amol’s garment of deep burgundy, red and gold as the color scheme for the event and Eventricity who did the décor built on that…

The Westin Philadelphia was the perfect location to host the many guests from out of town as well as provide space for the ceremony and reception…

Additionally, they worked tirelessly with Moghul Catering to develop a multi coursed reception which offered guests tableside selections of Eastern and Western cuisines…

In the end this beautiful day was truly the reflection of two people in love and the support of two loving families coming together….

Glad to we were able to be a part of it…..

Thanks to Eli Allen of Majestic Images for the beautiful images of Risa and Amol’s wedding.
