If you’ve followed our blog with any regularity, you’ve probably noticed we usually wait for images from the pros before posting a wedding….

{I occasionally post some of my non wedding images for fun- as you saw in the previous post}

I’ve seen a lot of planners – from Philly and across the country – posting a lot of photos they took of their work at a wedding….

There are some who show several HUNDRED images – {I’d like to know when they have time to do their job and take photos)….. I once worked with a dj – who was busier walking around the dance floor taking pictures of our table designs, lighting and people having fun than he was playing music….

As I see it my job is to oversee the event, keep other wedding professionals in the loop as to what will be going on next and to make sure the couple, their honored guests (and the wedding professionals working their butts off) have everything they need…..

And quite honestly I’m not a very good photographer – I know what makes a good photo, I know what I like, and I know the fundamentals of good photography….

HOWEVER – it just goes to prove that there’s more to being a good wedding photographer than knowing what makes a good photo or having a cool camera…

There is a certain “nerves of steel” mentality in dealing with crazy bridal parties, but also a “cool as a cucumber” side dealing with a nervous bride or anxious groom…. Getting the action, showing emotion in private moments and also bringing out the beauty in details that brides painstakingly worked on for months…

Not everyone can do that… I know I can’t – and it’s not a job for your friend to practice their skills with a new camera, or one that should go to the lowest bidder…. In this case you often get what you pay for…

 I’ll leave wedding photography to the professionals and I’m sure you’ll appreciate their work when we post it…
