Another catchy title for another potentially controversial post….

So all of you who sell cutesy little, trinket wedding favors please direct your comments to [email protected]

As we approach out 10th year planning weddings in Philadelphia I love the fact that most of our clients are becoming socially aware and many are making donations to charities which are close to their hearts instead of wedding favors…

When I started in the business and when I worked in catering I kept seeing bride spending money on votive candle holders etched with their names and wedding date – a tiny silver picture frame with place escort cards in them – bottle stoppers and place card holders…

And unfortunately at the end of the night when we were cleaning up I’d collect about 30% of the favors, put them in a box and send them home with the couple’s personal belongings…I think I have a collection of one of each of these…

So please, please, please – consider making a donation to a charity in lieu of a favor…

OH, the title… OK, so the one thing we NEVER clean up at the end of the night – edible wedding favors…preferably chocolate!

There are a number of excellent chocolate makers we work with who do truffles and chocolates which make great favors….

Other favorites are some of the beautiful, tasty custom cookies available as wedding favors…

Tonight  I went to an event and the favor were tiny little bamboo bowls of finishing salts- an assortment from all over the world, different colors- each with its own unique flavor…  a really cute idea.

So when you think about great favors for your guests… ask yourself….

But can ya eat it?
