Christina got a chance to get away from designing invitations to attend a networking event and I wanted her to share her experience with everyone –

I decided to take time away from my iMac to attend a fabulous event for Wedding Professionals hosted by The Water Club in Atlantic City.

Growing up vacationing at the Jersey Shore, Atlantic City was just where my grandmother and her best friend, Cleo, used to play slots after a 2 hour bus ride from South Philly.

But did my perception ever change!

Walking into the lobby of The Water Club, we did not feel as if we were in the “old” Atlantic City any more. Think South Beach. The modern decor was truly chic and there is a cosmopolitan feel reminiscent of Manhattan.

We started off with cocktails in the fantastic Sunroom Lounge. Then it was off for a tour of the incredibly inventive meeting and function spaces. If you can dream it, they can produce it.

For a bride who is looking for something different, a destination wedding without a plane ride, a weekend of events, this is the place.

Cocktails by the pool or maybe over the pool? They will soon be able to offer plexi covers for both the indoor and outdoor pools.

An intimate ballroom setting? They can provide draping or lighting that they use at the concert halls in The Borgata.  A spa retreat the day before the wedding? The spa is TDF!

Food. After truly tempting hors d’oeuvres on the Brazilian wood deck, we were treated to an amazing dinner by renowned Chef Geoffrey Zakarian of Town and County in New York. Did I mention that Geoffrey will design your entire menu?

He also dined with us as did our tour guide, Mark Vanderwielen, the Water Club’s General Manager and the lovely, Lynnette Camacho Thomas.

The Staff. Everyone we met or came in contact with at The Water Club were so gracious and accommodating. They truly enjoy working there. It shows and it was said many times.

Then it was off to the Borgata for drinks and dancing at Mixx and mur.mur.

I am still blown away by the evening and everything The Water Club has to offer a couple that is looking for a wedding weekend that their guests will never forget.

Oh, and if you forget to pack that dress you wanted to wear, there is a Just Cavalli and a Hugo Boss in the hotel!

Am I glad I took a break!…Now back to my iMac, I have more wedding invitations to design.
