One great idea for a cocktail reception is to offer tastings –

One groom recently is really into bourbon so he picked four or five of his favorite and we set up a station for bourbon tasting- complete with appropriate glasses and displays, a little nibble to clear your palette and some signage describing the bourbon and some characteristics of each.

 

For another we took an outside patio area and arranged for a cigar lounge – cigars from several regions, a few cutters and they were all set.

There are lots of interesting ways to get the groom involved… you just have to speak his language…
