OK, I know that sound really silly- but not nearly as silly as what followed.

Yesterday I was in the post office waiting in line, minding my own business…

And the young woman about three people in line ahead of me wants to order wedding stamps –

Clerk #1 has none and refers her to clerk #2 (the really LOUD ONE)…

Who also doesn’t have any – but can order them and have them in two days….

Clerk: “How many do you need?’

Bride: “100 – do you have a book or something that shows the kinds you have”

Clerk: “No, just have the purple love stamps – you can use those for the inskirt envelope- and you’ll need the pink love stamps for the outskirt envelope cause they’re .58 each”

Ok, now I’m not sure with out seeing the invitation, knowing the size shape or weight of the envelope HOW she knew it would only need .58 postage…

Because a 2 ounce envelope goes up to about .75 –

But “inskirt and outskirt”?

It was all I could do not to bust out laughing…

And of course first day back after the holiday – and 29 degrees and windy….I’m not in wedding planner mode – ball cap, haven’t shaved, jeans, sweatshirt…

Not the look you want to stop this bride on spin and say’ excuse me, but…”

So alas… unless she is a local reader of The Queen of Hearts Blog… she’s bound to have some invitations returned.

Moral of the story: Take your invitations- ‘inskirt’ envelope with response card, and a full set to the post office and have it weighed! Then order the stamps – waiting a day to mail them and having the correct postage will be worth the wait.
