Microphones…and sound checks are often a necessary evil at wedding ceremonies…

With larger weddings and especially outdoor ceremonies amplification has really become necessary.

In talking with friends who are videographers they shared an images of what an outdoor ceremony without a PA system might be like….

“your guests might as well be watching a group of mimes in tuxedos and a wedding dress acting out a wedding ceremony”

“the only soundtrack your guests will have will be a symphony of autumn crickets, the distant sound of rush hour traffic and the low mumble of other guests as they quietly complain to each other about the fact that they can’t hear!”

Truer words were never spoken…

A simple sound system will make all the difference in the word…

Here are a few other tips:
• The videographer’s mic on the groom DOES NOT broadcast for the guests
• Try to stand facing each other and not with your backs to the guests
• Better yet…see if the officiant will stand with his/her back to the guests so you can face them
• A mic stand for your readers will also allow guests to hear the readings and prayers you have chosen.

Check with you local dj or entertainment company – many will rent sound equipment for ceremonies as well…
