It’s nearly 10 PM and I’ve only been home from this evenings’ meetings for a short time…

And I got to do one of my favorite things….

NO, not read Doctor Seuss!

Chat with my girlfriend – Budget Wedding Planner Extraordinaire and fellow “Whose Wedding Is It Anyway?” alum Samantha Goldberg of Gold Events…

Sam and I have a hoot together – when she was in Philly last we did breakfast – two silly wedding planners at the Famous 4th Street Deli eating all the deli we could shovel…

With our schedules we have to limit our time together to IM time after hours….

So tonight’s topic was a HUGE wedding planner pet peeve….

Aisle Runners!

Unlikely topic but the horror stories we share are really amazing…

Aisle Runners originally served one purpose – to protect brides from evil spirits…

That’s it, that was the purpose… walking on this white runner was suppose to keep evil spirits from reaching up through ground and grabbing brides on their wedding day…

Sorry ladies, 8 years and 200+ weddings on my side and not once have I seen an evil spirit reach up and grab a bride…

Now if you choose to have a fabric runner, and have it anchored in place I see no reason not to use one….

Issue comes with they rayon runner on the cardboard “ala paper towel roll” tube, and the dreaded rope… they don’t stay taped to the ground, they are impossible to roll out with any elegance, and rarely roll straight up the aisle…

The bigger issue is the use of them on older wooden or marble floors where they slide or catch heals as bridal party process in or shred as guests walk back and forth for communion…

Or worst place – outside on the grass – accident waiting to happen…

Ditch the aisle runner… no evil spirits will pull you into the ground…

I promise…
