Â
This morning I had the chance to visit Ridley Middle School in Ridley Park for their Career Fest.
Â
This was held in conjunction with the national event “Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Dayâ€â€¦ and was no small feat.
Â
I had been contacted back in February by Linda Pollum of their Career Fest Committee – 2 points for prior planning.
Â
Who invited me to come and talk to several classes about careers in wedding and event planning… They sent me a packet with all kind so information on the vent, my schedule as well as directions…another 2 points!
Â
This morning I show up and I am 1 of 105 presenters!
Â
We ranged from a tug boat captian, to a vet, a Fedex Driver, a pharmaceutical rep, and a Boeing engineer…
Â
I’m greeted at the driveway by volunteers who welcomed me, directed me to parkers who got me parked and helped unload…. Greeters at the door, swift check in…name badges…escorts to my room…
Â
THEY REALLY HAD THEIR ACT TOGETHER!
Â
A+++
Â
I was really impressed by everyone’s welcome and enthusiasm – the kids were all 6th- 8th grades… and were attentive, polite, and had great questions…
Â
I had 34 students in my group…nearly standing room…and the time flew by with very bright questions about owning my own business, my background, thing I’ve done… really fun.
Â
I walked away having a great morning…and honestly feeling a lot better about at least part of our educational system…and definitely about the kids who will someday be our future clients…
Â
Congrats Ridley Middle School – great job!
